Jessica Bennett

Jessica began dancing at the Canton Ballet when she was 4 years old and studied there until she was 18. She continued with dance in college and completed a dual degree at Ohio State University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Modern Dance and a Bachelors of Art in Psychology. Initially, she intended to apply for a masters program in psychology, but ended up dancing professionally with TUPACO Dance, Lori Belilove, High Jinx, Anna and the Annadroids, and primarily the Backspace Performance Ensemble. Her dance career led to her curiosity about yoga, because many choreographers were using yoga to warm up the mind and body for rehearsals and performances. In 2009, she moved to New York City to continue dancing for Backspace. This led to amazing collaborations and projects like Crooked Mouth Dance Company, and solidified her love for choreography and movement.

After 5 years living the NYC life, she and her fiancé decided to move to Los Angeles. The transition was the perfect time to visit India, where they traveled for 1 month, and also stayed at the Parmarth Niketan Ashram while completing a 2-week yoga intensive. It was an incredible experience to live among people who live, sleep, and eat yoga. She was able to sharpen her skills and knowledge of yoga philosophy, pranayama, meditation, and chanting. After their travels, they landed in Los Angeles, where she continued choreographing, performing, and teaching dance and yoga, mainly for Fugitive Kind Live Theater. Their content is grounded in Viewpoints, a method of acting that is based on movement studies. This was a perfect way to incorporate her dance and yoga career into acting.

After NYC, India and LA, she is ready for the big time—back in amazing Canton. She is excited about her journey in Canton and figuring out how yoga and dance can continue to be at the forefront of a great career.
